Here's a little wrinkle worth understanding. Glucagon isn't a daily diabetes medicine like metformin. It's actually your rescue treatment, used to raise blood sugar fast when it drops dangerously low. It works by signaling your liver to dump out stored sugar.

Berberine pulls in the opposite direction, since it may gently lower blood sugar. So while this is filed under diabetes drugs, berberine doesn't make glucagon dangerous. If anything, taking berberine regularly might make those low-sugar emergencies a touch more likely, which is exactly when you'd reach for glucagon. This is theoretical, based on how berberine behaves. If you use glucagon, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding berberine.
