Insulin Degludec, Liraglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Berberine interacts with.

Clinical research shows that berberine may lower blood glucose levels. Theoretically, berberine might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Xultophy already does a strong job of lowering your blood sugar. It combines a long-acting insulin (degludec) with liraglutide, a GLP-1 medicine. Both of these push your glucose down. Berberine has its own blood-sugar-lowering effect, so stacking the two could theoretically drop your levels too far, a state we call hypoglycemia.

If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or suddenly very hungry. I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on how these work rather than on hard studies with this exact combination. It doesn't mean you can't use both, just that you should loop in your pharmacist or doctor first. They may suggest checking your sugars more closely for a while so any low can be caught early.
