ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Insulin Degludec, Liraglutide
Insulin Degludec, Liraglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Agmatine interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research suggest that agmatine has mild hypoglycemic effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Xultophy combines two blood sugar lowering medicines: insulin degludec (a long-acting insulin) and liraglutide (a GLP-1 medicine). Both already work to bring your glucose down. The concern here is simple addition: agmatine has shown mild blood sugar lowering activity, so stacking it on top of Xultophy could in theory push your sugar a little too low.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It is theoretical, coming mostly from animal and lab studies, not from people. If you do try agmatine, the practical move is to watch for signs of hypoglycemia, things like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or confusion, and check your glucose a bit more often at first. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them so your dose can be reviewed.
