Here's the short version: nimodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, which naturally lowers your blood pressure. Agmatine, at least in animal studies, seems to gently nudge blood pressure and heart rate down too. Put the two together and the worry is that their effects could stack, leaving you with too much of a good thing.

In real life that might show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling faint when you stand up, or a headache. I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal work, not solid human studies. Since nimodipine is usually given for a serious brain bleed, don't add agmatine on your own. Run it past your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Nimodipine Used For?

Brand names: Nimotop, Nymalize

Nimodipine — available as capsules and oral solution — is used to improve neurological outcomes after a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a type of bleeding that occurs around the brain when an intracranial berry aneurysm ruptures. It works to reduce the incidence and severity of ischemic deficits (areas of the brain damaged by reduced blood flow) that can follow this kind of bleed.

This use applies across nimodipine capsules, nimodipine oral solution, and Nymalize oral solution. It is indicated for adult patients regardless of how severe their neurological condition is at the time treatment begins.
