Phenoxybenzamine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Berberine interacts with.

Theoretically, berberine might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, a clinical study suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone.

Here's the short version: berberine may gently lower blood pressure on its own. Phenoxybenzamine already blocks alpha receptors to bring blood pressure down, so stacking the two could push your pressure lower than intended. That can show up as dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, a fast or pounding heartbeat, or a stuffy nose, all of which are already common with phenoxybenzamine.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This concern comes mostly from animal studies and a small human study using a different blood pressure drug, so it's more of a theoretical, watch-it situation than a proven problem. Food amounts aren't the issue; concentrated supplements are. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding berberine, since phenoxybenzamine is prescribed for a sensitive condition.

Phenoxybenzamine hydrochloride capsules are used to treat pheochromocytoma — a rare tumor of the adrenal gland that releases large bursts of stress hormones, causing dangerous spikes in blood pressure and heavy sweating. The capsules help keep those episodes under control.

If the heart rate becomes too fast during treatment, a doctor may also prescribe a beta-blocker alongside phenoxybenzamine.
