SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS
Why this applies to Dorzolamide Hydrochloride, Timolol Maleate
Dorzolamide Hydrochloride, Timolol Maleate falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Biofeedback interacts with.
Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Let me ease your mind here. Cosopt PF is an eye drop that combines dorzolamide and timolol to lower the pressure inside your eyes for glaucoma. The interaction in our database is really about EEG biofeedback possibly nudging the seizure threshold a little lower, paired with medicines that can do the same. While timolol is a beta-blocker, very little of an eye drop reaches your bloodstream, and these drops are not known as meaningful seizure-threshold loweres.
So for this specific medication, the theoretical concern is quite small. The evidence behind it is limited too. If you have a seizure disorder and plan to try biofeedback, it is worth a quick chat with your doctor, but I would not lose sleep over your eye drops here.

“The one major-rated interaction with Cosopt PF (dorzolamide and timolol eye drops for glaucoma) belongs to Indian snakeroot, and it is the entry to understand first. Timolol is a beta-blocker that reaches the bloodstream even from an eye drop, and Indian snakeroot may deepen that effect enough to slow the heart or drop blood pressure t…”

About Biofeedback
What is Biofeedback?
- Chronic pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Anxiety and stress
- High blood pressure
- Urinary incontinence
- Tension and muscle relaxation
Biofeedback is a mind-body technique, not an herb or supplement. It uses sensors to show you real-time information about body functions like heart rate, muscle tension, or skin temperature so you can learn to control them. It is generally very safe and has reasonable evidence for headaches, certain pain conditions, and pelvic floor problems, but it works best alongside standard medical care.
