There is some concern that electroencephalogram (EEG) biofeedback might lower the seizure threshold in some patients. Theoretically, combining EEG biofeedback with seizure threshold-lowering drugs might increase the risk of seizure.

Here's the gist for Quetiapine (Seroquel). This isn't a typical drug-supplement interaction where something changes how your body processes the medicine. Quetiapine is one of those antipsychotics that can slightly lower your seizure threshold, meaning it can make seizures a touch more likely in people who are prone to them. The theory is that EEG biofeedback (a specific type that works with brain wave activity) might also nudge the seizure threshold downward in certain folks, so stacking the two could, in theory, add up.

I want to be honest: this is mostly a theoretical concern, and for most people doing biofeedback for headaches, stress, or pelvic issues, it isn't a problem. Still, if you have a seizure history, mention it to whoever runs your biofeedback and to your doctor before starting.

What Is Quetiapine Used For?

Brand names: Seroquel, Dopaquel

Quetiapine treats schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in adults and certain age groups of children and adolescents. For bipolar disorder, it is approved for manic episodes (both as a stand-alone treatment and alongside lithium or divalproex) and for depressive episodes.

The extended-release form of quetiapine is also approved as add-on therapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who are already taking an antidepressant. The regular tablet form is not approved for this use.
