Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Naproxen, Sumatriptan
Naproxen, Sumatriptan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Black Hoof Mushroom interacts with.
In vitro, polysaccharides from black hoof mushroom grown in culture inhibit CYP1A2. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Treximet combines naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) with sumatriptan (a migraine medicine). The concern here involves an enzyme called CYP1A2. In test-tube studies only, compounds from black hoof mushroom appeared to slow this enzyme down. If that happened in people, your body might clear the drug a little more slowly, letting levels build up.
In plain terms, that could mean a bit more of the usual effects, like stomach upset, heartburn, drowsiness, or feeling flushed or tingly. Honestly though, this is purely theoretical and has never been shown in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since both ingredients carry their own risks, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before combining them.
