Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to tipranavir
tipranavir falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Black Hoof Mushroom interacts with.
In vitro, polysaccharides from black hoof mushroom grown in culture inhibit CYP1A2. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with tipranavir (Aptivus) and Black Hoof Mushroom. In lab dishes, compounds from this mushroom seem to slow down an enzyme called CYP1A2, which is one of the pathways your body can use to clear certain drugs. If that slowdown happened in real life, levels of a drug that relies on CYP1A2 could creep up, which might mean stronger effects and more side effects (for tipranavir that could look like nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, or stress on the liver).
That said, I want to be honest about the strength of this. It has only been seen in test-tube and lab settings, not in people. Tipranavir is mainly handled by other liver pathways too, so the real impact is uncertain. Since HIV medicines need steady levels to keep working, just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this mushroom.

- Antioxidant support
- General wellness

Black Hoof Mushroom (Phellinus linteus) is a medicinal mushroom long used in East Asian traditional medicine, mainly for immune support. About Tipranavir
What Is Tipranavir Used For?
Brand name: Aptivus
Aptivus (tipranavir) is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and in pediatric patients weighing 36 kg or more who have already tried other HIV medications and whose virus has become resistant to more than one protease inhibitor. It must always be taken together with ritonavir to work properly.
Aptivus is not recommended for people who have never been treated for HIV before. It works best when combined with other active HIV medications, and a resistance test is usually done first to confirm the virus will respond to it.
