Glipizide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Black Mulberry interacts with.

Theoretically, black mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
One small clinical study shows that black mulberry leaf extract has hypoglycemic effects. This is supported by in vitro research which also suggests that constituents in black mulberry twigs and leaves might have hypoglycemic effects.

Here's the simple version: glipizide already works hard to lower your blood sugar by pushing your pancreas to release more insulin. Black mulberry leaf extract may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect, mostly thanks to a compound called DNJ that slows how you absorb sugar from food. Stack the two together and you could push your numbers too low.

If that happens, watch for hypoglycemia signs like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or sudden hunger. Keep in mind this caution comes from one small study plus lab research, so it's more theoretical than proven. Enjoying mulberries as a fruit is unlikely to cause trouble, but concentrated leaf supplements are a different story. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding one.
