Carvedilol falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Black Psyllium interacts with.

Theoretically, psyllium might increase, decrease, or have no effect on the absorption of oral drugs.
Psyllium seems to have variable effects on drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after oral medications. Animal research shows that blond psyllium delays and increases the absorption of metformin and ethinyl estradiol. Case reports and animal research suggest that blond psyllium might reduce absorption of lithium, digoxin, olanzapine, and carbamazepine. Finally, some pharmacokinetic studies show that psyllium does not affect the absorption of levothyroxine or warfarin. Although many of these studies evaluated blond psyllium, the fiber content in black psyllium may have similar effects.

Here's the short version with black psyllium and your carvedilol: this is mostly a timing issue, not a danger. Psyllium is a soluble fiber that turns into a thick gel in your gut, and that gel can sometimes grab onto pills and change how much medicine your body soaks up. With carvedilol, that could mean slightly less of the dose getting absorbed, which in theory might make it work a touch less well for your blood pressure or heart.

The evidence here is thin and largely theoretical, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The easy fix is simple spacing. Take your carvedilol first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your psyllium. If your blood pressure readings drift up or your heart rate feels off, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

Black psyllium is a soluble-fiber supplement made from the seeds of a Plantago plant, used mostly to ease constipation and support digestive health. It is best known and most studied for relieving constipation and may modestly help lower cholesterol, but it must always be taken with plenty of water. What Is Carvedilol Used For?

Brand names: Coreg, Coreg CR

Carvedilol is used to treat three main conditions: mild-to-severe chronic heart failure, high blood pressure (hypertension), and reduced heart pumping function (left ventricular dysfunction) in people who have survived a heart attack. For heart failure, it is usually prescribed alongside other medications such as diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and digitalis to help people live longer and reduce the chance of hospital stays.

For people who have had a heart attack and whose heart is not pumping as well as it should, carvedilol is used to lower the risk of dying from heart-related causes. For high blood pressure, it can be used on its own or combined with other blood pressure medicines.
