Ammonium Chloride falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Black Seed interacts with.

Theoretically, taking black seed with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical research suggests that black seed powder and oil might reduce blood pressure by 2-3 mmHg. In animal research, black seed modestly reduces blood pressure and concomitant use of black seed and amlodipine (Norvasc) or metoprolol (Lopressor) increased the blood pressure lowering effects of these drugs.

Here's a little wrinkle worth mentioning. The interaction we have on file lumps Ammonium Chloride in with blood pressure medicines, but that's not really how this drug is used. Ammonium Chloride is typically given as an acidifying agent (to make urine or blood more acidic) or sometimes as an expectorant, not to lower blood pressure. So the usual concern, black seed nudging blood pressure down a few points, doesn't line up neatly here.

Black seed's main known effect is a small drop in blood pressure (about 2 to 3 mmHg in studies), and there's no solid evidence it changes how Ammonium Chloride works. Still, the data is limited, so I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially at concentrated supplement doses.

Here's the basic idea. Ammonium chloride is sometimes used as a urine acidifier or to correct certain electrolyte and pH problems, and it can also act like a mild diuretic, helping your body get rid of fluid. Black seed has shown its own diuretic-like effect in animal studies, so the concern is that pairing the two could push your body to lose a bit more potassium than expected.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This has only been seen in lab and animal research, never proven in people, so for most folks it's a theoretical worry rather than a real-world problem. If you notice things like muscle weakness, cramps, or an irregular heartbeat, those can signal low potassium, so check in with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
