Buchu may have antiplatelet effects. Theoretically, buchu may enhance the effects of anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs and increase the risk of bleeding in some patients. The product you're asking about (Anacin) pairs aspirin with caffeine. Aspirin is already a blood thinner, since it keeps your platelets from clumping together to form clots. Buchu is thought to have its own mild antiplatelet activity, so the worry here is that stacking the two could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher. In real life that might look like easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach upset that's slower to stop.

I'll be honest with you, this is mostly theoretical and rests on weak, anecdotal evidence, so it's not a reason to panic. The caffeine part isn't the concern. Still, if you take aspirin regularly or have any bleeding history, run the buchu past your pharmacist or doctor first.
