No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Caprylic Acid and Naloxone in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Caprylic Acid and Naloxone

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Naloxone and Caprylic Acid in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Caprylic Acid safety at a glance

Caprylic Acid overall Use caution Generally recognized as safe in food, but supplement doses are less well studied.
Pregnancy Use caution Food amounts are likely fine, but supplement doses lack safety data, so avoid unless your doctor approves.
Breastfeeding Use caution Caprylic acid occurs naturally in breast milk, but concentrated supplement safety is unknown, so use caution.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Naloxone

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Naloxone is filed under a single classification. Caprylic Acid has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being antihypertensive drugs (moderate), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids) (moderate) and warfarin (coumadin) (moderate) — and none of Naloxone’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

Keep it in perspective

What to actually watch for

What Caprylic Acid Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Naloxone. It is the side-effect record for Caprylic Acid on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Caprylic Acid, this list is the first place to look.

  • A change in taste / Stomach upset Additional detail

“Orally, caprylic acid seems to be well tolerated, short-term.

    Most Common Adverse Effects:

Orally: Mild abdominal discomfort and change in taste perception.

    Topically: Skin irritation.”

Caprylic Acid · Natural Medicines adverse-effect record, reported in skin irritation.

  • Tiredness / Dizziness / Headache Additional detail

“Orally, caprylic acid has rarely been reported to cause mild dizziness, headache, and fatigue.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Caprylic Acid — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Naloxone’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Naloxone column appears here.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Naloxone

This page covers Caprylic Acid only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Naloxone page lists 3 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: 1,4-butanediol (moderate), Gamma Butyrolactone (gbl) (moderate) and Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb) (moderate).

By severity: 3 moderate.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Naloxone page

“The list of supplements that interact with naloxone, the emergency spray or injection (Narcan, Zimhi, Rivive) that reverses opioid overdoses, is short and unusual. All three entries are forms of the same substance: gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and two chemicals the body converts into it, GBL and 1,4-butanediol.”

About Caprylic Acid

What is Caprylic Acid?

Caprylic Acid
  • Candida and yeast overgrowth
  • Gut health support
  • Antimicrobial
  • Digestive health
  • Part of ketogenic diets

Caprylic acid is a medium-chain fatty acid found in coconut oil and palm kernel oil that is popularly used for yeast overgrowth and gut health. While laboratory studies show it has antimicrobial activity, strong human evidence for most supplement claims is limited. It is generally considered safe in food amounts, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.

Fatty acid derived from coconut and palm kernel oil; also found in milk fat · Capsules, softgels, liquid oil, part of MCT oil blends

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Caprylic Acid is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Caprylic Acid record says about it on its own.

Caprylic Acid: dosing

There is no official, well-established dose for caprylic acid as a supplement. Products vary widely in strength and form, so the right amount depends on the specific product. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and start with a lower amount to see how your body responds.

About Naloxone Injection

What Is Naloxone Injection Used For?

Brand names: Narcan, Zimhi, Rivive

Naloxone Hydrochloride injection is used for the emergency treatment of known or suspected opioid overdose — reversing dangerous slowing of breathing and loss of consciousness caused by opioids. It is also approved for use in pediatric patients of all ages.

Naloxone Hydrochloride injection is additionally indicated specifically for military personnel and chemical incident responders: for emergency treatment of patients 12 and older where high-potency opioids such as fentanyl analogues have been used as a chemical weapon, and for temporary protection against breathing and nervous system depression when entering an area contaminated with such opioids. Zimhi (naloxone HCl) is a pre-filled, single-dose injectable product approved for intramuscular or subcutaneous use in known or suspected opioid overdose.
