Linagliptin, Metformin Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Carqueja interacts with.

Theoretically, carqueja might lower blood glucose levels and might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. This might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: Jentadueto XR (which combines linagliptin and metformin) already works to bring your blood sugar down. Carqueja, a bitter South American herb, has been shown in lab and animal studies to possibly lower blood sugar too. So the worry is an additive effect, meaning the two together could push your sugar lower than you intend.

If that happens, you might notice signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, or feeling foggy and irritable. I want to be honest though: this is mostly theoretical and based on weak evidence, not strong human studies. A cup of carqueja tea now and then is unlikely to cause trouble, but concentrated supplements could matter more. If you decide to use it, check your blood sugar more closely and let your pharmacist or doctor know.
