Brexpiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Clove interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of clove may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that eugenol, the principal constituent of clove, can inhibit CYP2D6 in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Rexulti (brexpiprazole) and clove. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break brexpiprazole down. Lab studies suggest eugenol, the main oil in clove, can slow that enzyme. If it does, brexpiprazole could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger effects or more side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, or weight changes.

The important part: this comes only from test-tube research, and it has not been seen in people. Sprinkling clove on food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated clove oil or capsules are the bigger question mark. If you're considering those, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first rather than changing anything on your own.

Clove is a common cooking spice that is also used in traditional medicine, especially as a topical numbing agent for tooth pain thanks to its main compound, eugenol. About Brexpiprazole

What Is Brexpiprazole Used For?

Brand name: Rexulti

Brexpiprazole tablets are approved for two uses in adults: as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment alongside antidepressants for major depressive disorder (MDD), and as a treatment for schizophrenia. These uses apply to both the generic brexpiprazole tablets and Rexulti.

Rexulti has one additional approved use: treating agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease in adults. Rexulti is also approved for schizophrenia in adolescents ages 13 and older. Note that Rexulti is not approved for dementia-related psychosis without agitation from Alzheimer's disease, and it is not meant to be used on an as-needed basis for Alzheimer's-related agitation.
