Capmatinib Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Clove interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of clove may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that eugenol, the principal constituent of clove, can inhibit CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear capmatinib (Tabrecta). Lab studies suggest that eugenol, the main compound in clove, can slow this enzyme down. In theory, that could let capmatinib build up higher in your blood than expected, which may mean more side effects like nausea, vomiting, swelling, tiredness, or changes in liver tests.

Here's the reassuring part: this is only seen in test-tube research, never confirmed in people, so the real-world risk is uncertain. The pinch of cloves in your cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated clove oil or supplements are where I'd be more cautious. Since capmatinib is a serious cancer medicine, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before using clove medicinally.

Tabrecta (capmatinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. It is only for patients whose tumors have a specific genetic change called a MET exon 14 skipping mutation, which must be confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.
