Dextroamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Clove interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of clove may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that eugenol, the principal constituent of clove, can inhibit CYP2D6 in a dose-dependent manner. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with clove and your dextroamphetamine. The body partly uses a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear this stimulant. In lab studies, eugenol (the main compound in clove) can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a person, the medication could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might nudge up its usual effects, things like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, less appetite, or feeling on edge.

The important part: this is only seen in test-tube and animal research, not in real people, so it's theoretical. Everyday cooking amounts of clove are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated clove oil or supplements are the bigger question mark. If you're using clove medicinally, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
