ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Sitaxsentan sodium
Sitaxsentan sodium falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Coffee Charcoal interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: coffee charcoal acts a bit like other charcoals in your gut. Its porous surface can grab onto things passing through, and that may include your sitaxsentan tablet before your body has a chance to absorb it. If less drug gets into your bloodstream, it may not work as well at keeping the blood pressure in your lungs under control, which is what this medicine is meant to do for pulmonary hypertension.
This concern is theoretical, based on how charcoal behaves rather than firm studies, so don't panic. The easy fix is timing: keep the two at least a couple of hours apart. Please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Sitaxsentan sodium page
“Sitaxsentan (Thelin) treats pulmonary arterial hypertension and carries a well known liver warning of its own, which is exactly why I read this list of 173 interacting supplements with genuine concern rather than a shrug. Most entries, 119 of them, either add to its blood pressure lowering effect or work against it, but the group I wou…”

About Coffee Charcoal
What is Coffee Charcoal?
- Diarrhea
- Inflammatory bowel conditions
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Mild digestive upset
- Wound and skin care (topical, traditional)
Coffee charcoal is made by roasting green coffee beans until they turn black, creating a charcoal-like material used traditionally for diarrhea and digestive complaints. Scientific evidence supporting its benefits is very limited, and it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a chronic gut condition.
