Here's the gist with Epclusa (sofosbuvir/velpatasvir). Coffee charcoal acts like other charcoal products, meaning its porous surface can grab onto medicines sitting in your gut before they're absorbed. If that happens with Epclusa, less of the drug gets into your bloodstream, and that could weaken how well it clears your hepatitis C. With this treatment, keeping your levels steady really matters, since the whole point is fully knocking out the virus over your course of therapy.

Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based on how charcoal behaves rather than direct studies. To play it safe, simply separate the two by at least two hours. Honestly, though, I'd run any new supplement past your pharmacist or doctor while you're on Epclusa.

About Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir

What Is Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir Used For?

Brand name: Epclusa

Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir treats chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection caused by genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 — covering all the major strains. It is approved for adults and children 3 years of age and older, whether or not they have cirrhosis (liver scarring).

It is used on its own in patients without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis (where the liver is scarred but still functioning). In patients with decompensated cirrhosis (more advanced liver disease where the liver is no longer coping), it is used in combination with another medicine called ribavirin. Epclusa is a brand that is also available as oral pellets for younger children.
