Diovan HCT pairs two blood pressure lowering medicines: valsartan (an ARB) and hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill). The concern here is simple in theory. Coltsfoot has been reported to possibly raise blood pressure when taken in large amounts, which could work against what your medication is trying to do. If that happened, you might notice your readings creeping up at home.

I'll be honest with you: this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence only, not solid studies, so it may not amount to much in real life. The bigger worry with coltsfoot is the liver-toxic compounds it can contain. If you want to use it, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

Coltsfoot is a traditional herb long used to soothe coughs and clear mucus, but solid human evidence for these uses is lacking. More importantly, the raw plant can contain liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, so it carries real safety concerns and is best avoided unless you use a product certified to be free of these compounds.
