Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Levorphanol
Levorphanol falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Corn Poppy interacts with.
Animal research suggests that corn poppy leaf extract has sedative effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: levorphanol is a strong opioid pain reliever, and one of its main effects is calming your brain and slowing you down. That's the sedation and drowsiness people often feel. Corn poppy is thought to have its own mild calming effect, so the worry is that pairing the two could stack that drowsiness and make you more sleepy, foggy, or lightheaded than you'd expect.
Honestly, the evidence here is thin. It comes from animal studies on corn poppy leaf extract, not solid human research, and the poppy's compounds are weak. Still, levorphanol is a potent drug on its own, so I'd play it safe. A cup of corn poppy tea is far milder than a concentrated supplement. Before combining them, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Levorphanol page
“Most of the ingredients that interact with levorphanol (Levo-Dromoran) pile onto the same hazard, deeper sedation. Because levorphanol is a potent opioid painkiller, that stacking can slow breathing rather than just cause drowsiness, so this page deserves real vigilance before you add a supplement to it.”

About Corn Poppy
What is Corn Poppy?
- Cough and sore throat
- Sleep and restlessness
- Mild pain
- Anxiety and nervousness
- Digestive complaints
Corn poppy is a red-flowered plant traditionally used in teas and syrups for cough, sleep, and mild pain. Solid human research is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven, and unlike its relative the opium poppy, it contains only small amounts of weak alkaloids. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
About Levorphanol
What Is Levorphanol Used For?
Brand name: Levo-Dromoran
Levorphanol Tartrate Tablets are used to manage pain severe enough to require an opioid — specifically when non-opioid or other pain treatments haven't provided enough relief or aren't a good fit for the patient.
It is not meant for everyday or mild pain. Prescribers weigh the serious risks of opioid therapy carefully before choosing this medication, and it should be used for only as long as the pain requires it.
