Evidence from animal research shows that a Pinellia ternata preparation decreases activity and increases sleeping time. Theoretically, Pinellia ternata can potentiate the therapeutic effect of CNS depressants. Some of these medications include antihistamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, and others.

Here's the short version: Levorphanol is a strong opioid pain reliever that already calms down your brain and nervous system. It can make you drowsy, slow your breathing, and leave you feeling foggy or unsteady. Pinellia ternata, based on animal studies, seemed to lower activity and lengthen sleep time, so the worry is that it could add to Levorphanol's sedating effects.

I want to be honest about how solid this is. The evidence here comes only from lab and animal research, so it's theoretical for people. Still, with a medication as powerful as Levorphanol, I'd rather you play it safe. Stacking two things that both slow you down could mean more sleepiness or slowed breathing. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
