Here's the gist for tramadol: it's a pain reliever that also slows down the brain and nervous system, so it can cause drowsiness, dizziness, slowed breathing, and a foggy feeling. Pinellia ternata, in animal studies, seemed to make animals less active and sleep longer. The concern is that stacking the two could deepen those sedating effects, leaving you more groggy or unsteady than usual.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is based only on animal research, not human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since both can calm the nervous system, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially since pinellia needs careful processing to be safe at all.
