CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Pregabalin
Pregabalin falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Pinellia Ternata interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: Pregabalin (Lyrica) already slows down your central nervous system, which is how it calms nerve pain but also why it can leave you drowsy, dizzy, foggy, or unsteady on your feet. In animal studies, Pinellia ternata seemed to do something similar, making animals more sluggish and increasing their sleep time. So the worry is simple addition: pairing the two could deepen that sedation more than you'd expect from the Pregabalin alone.
Keep in mind this is theoretical and only backed by lab and animal data, not human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Pregabalin isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about one speeding up or blocking the other. Still, if you take both, watch for extra drowsiness or dizziness and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Pregabalin page
“Pregabalin (Lyrica) calms overactive nerves, which is how it eases nerve pain, seizures, and anxiety, and that calming action stacks with almost everything on this list. Of the 95 supplements and herbs, the large majority add their own sedation on top of pregabalin's, and a few can tip that into genuine danger, with deep sedation and s…”

- Throat discomfort
Pinellia ternata is a tuber used in traditional Chinese medicine, most often for nausea, vomiting, and phlegmy coughs, and almost always as part of multi-herb formulas.
