Evidence from animal research shows that a Pinellia ternata preparation decreases activity and increases sleeping time. Theoretically, Pinellia ternata can potentiate the therapeutic effect of CNS depressants. Some of these medications include antihistamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, and others.

This combination product (Micomp PB) contains pentobarbital, a barbiturate that calms the nervous system. In animal studies, Pinellia ternata seemed to lower activity and make animals sleep longer. So in theory, pairing it with this medicine could pile onto pentobarbital's sedating side, leaving you extra drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady. The caffeine in this product is stimulating and may blunt some of that, but it doesn't cancel it out.

Here's the honest part: this concern comes only from lab and animal research, so we can't say how strongly it plays out in real people. Still, since pentobarbital is already a heavy sedative, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, especially if you plan to drive.

Theoretically, Pinellia ternata can potentiate the therapeutic effect of barbiturates. Some of these sedative medications include pentobarbital (Nembutal), phenobarbital (Luminal), secobarbital (Seconal), and others.

Your Micomp PB combo contains pentobarbital, a barbiturate that calms the nervous system. The concern here is with that sedating piece. In animal studies, a Pinellia ternata preparation made the animals less active and made them sleep longer, which hints it could add to the drowsy effect of a barbiturate like pentobarbital.

So if these were combined, the worry is too much sedation: extra grogginess, dizziness, slowed breathing, or feeling unusually knocked out. I'll be honest though, this is based only on lab and animal work, not solid human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Since pentobarbital is already a potent sedative, please run any Pinellia product by your pharmacist or doctor first before mixing the two.
