Benactyzine, Meprobamate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Pinellia Ternata interacts with.

Evidence from animal research shows that a Pinellia ternata preparation decreases activity and increases sleeping time. Theoretically, Pinellia ternata can potentiate the therapeutic effect of CNS depressants. Some of these medications include antihistamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, and others.

Deprol combines meprobamate, a calming sedative, with benactyzine, which has anxiety-easing and anticholinergic effects. Both work by quieting the central nervous system. The concern here is simple: Pinellia ternata may add to that calming, sedating effect rather than change how the drug is broken down.

In practice, pairing them could leave you extra drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet, and could make daytime sleepiness worse. I want to be honest, though, this caution comes only from animal studies, where a Pinellia preparation increased sleeping time. We don't have solid human proof. Still, since both can dampen the nervous system, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you drive or feel sleepy already.
