Here's the simple version: Chlordiazepoxide (Librium) already calms the brain, which is why it eases anxiety and alcohol withdrawal. The concern is that elecampane may have its own mild sedative quality. Put the two together and those calming effects could stack up, potentially leaving you more drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet than the medication alone would.

I want to be honest about the strength of this one. It's theoretical, based on how the herb might behave rather than solid human studies, so it may not amount to much for many people. Still, since Librium itself can already make you sleepy, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you drive or feel groggy.

What Is Chlordiazepoxide Used For?

Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. They are also used to relieve withdrawal symptoms in acute alcoholism, and to reduce apprehension and anxiety before surgery.

Note that everyday stress and tension do not usually require an anxiety medication like this one. Long-term use beyond 4 months has not been well-studied, so your prescriber should periodically check whether it is still the right fit for you.
