First things first: henbane is genuinely dangerous and we don't recommend using it at all. It's loaded with tropane alkaloids (like atropine and scopolamine) that have a strong drying, slowing effect on the body, what we call anticholinergic activity.

Now, Librium (chlordiazepoxide) isn't itself a classic anticholinergic, but it's a benzodiazepine that calms the brain and can leave you drowsy and foggy. Pairing it with henbane stacks two sedating, mind-clouding influences together. You could see worse confusion, sleepiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, trouble urinating, and a racing heartbeat. This concern is based on how these compounds behave rather than firm studies, but the risk is taken seriously. Please don't combine them, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Chlordiazepoxide Used For?

Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. They are also used to relieve withdrawal symptoms in acute alcoholism, and to reduce apprehension and anxiety before surgery.

Note that everyday stress and tension do not usually require an anxiety medication like this one. Long-term use beyond 4 months has not been well-studied, so your prescriber should periodically check whether it is still the right fit for you.
