Here's the thing about combining henbane with procainamide: it's not about one slowing down the breakdown of the other. Instead, both have anticholinergic activity, meaning they block the same chemical messenger (acetylcholine). When you stack two of these together, those effects pile up. With procainamide, that could mean a dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, and a faster heart rate, which is especially worth watching since procainamide is a heart rhythm medication.

This concern is rated as theoretical, based on how these compounds work rather than firm studies. Still, henbane is genuinely poisonous and we don't recommend using it at all. Please run any combination like this past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Henbane is a highly poisonous plant containing potent alkaloids like hyoscyamine and scopolamine, and even small amounts can cause serious or deadly poisoning. While its compounds have real medical uses, these belong in carefully controlled prescription drugs, not in self-made or self-dosed herbal products. We strongly advise against using henbane as a supplement.

What Is Procainamide Used For?

Brand names: Pronestyl, Procanbid, Procan SR, Procan, Pronestyl-SR

Procainamide hydrochloride injection is used to treat documented, life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias — most notably sustained ventricular tachycardia (a dangerously fast heart rhythm originating in the lower chambers of the heart). Because of its serious risk profile, it is reserved for situations where the benefit clearly outweighs the risk.

Procainamide is not recommended for minor or asymptomatic arrhythmias, and treatment should always be started in a hospital setting where close monitoring is possible. Antiarrhythmic drugs, including procainamide, have not been shown to improve survival in patients with arrhythmias that are not life-threatening.
