Here's the thing with this pairing: amitriptyline already has strong anticholinergic activity built in. That's why it can cause dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a racing heartbeat, and grogginess. Henbane carries its own powerful anticholinergic alkaloids (hyoscyamine, scopolamine, atropine), so putting the two together doesn't cancel out, it stacks. You'd essentially be doubling up on the same type of effect.

When these add up, mild side effects can turn serious: confusion, dangerous overheating, severe constipation, urinary retention, or an irregular heartbeat. This warning is based on how these compounds behave rather than formal studies, but henbane is genuinely toxic on its own, so I'd treat this combination as one to avoid. Please don't change anything without talking to your pharmacist or doctor first.
