Ropivacaine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Eleuthero interacts with.

Theoretically, eleuthero might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro and animal research suggest that standardized extracts of eleuthero inhibit CYP1A2. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version for ropivacaine (Naropin), which is a local anesthetic your doctor injects to numb an area, often during surgery or for pain control. Your liver clears it mainly through an enzyme called CYP1A2. Lab and animal studies hint that eleuthero may slow that enzyme down, which could in theory let ropivacaine build up a bit more than expected.

If that happened, you might see stronger or longer-lasting effects, and at higher levels things like dizziness, ringing in the ears, numbness around the mouth, or in rare cases heart and nervous-system problems. The good news: this is only theoretical and has never been shown in people. Since ropivacaine is usually given in a controlled clinical setting, just mention any eleuthero use to your provider beforehand.
