Ropivacaine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafinil might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP1A2 activity in vitro.

Here's the situation with these two. Ropivacaine (Naropin) is a local anesthetic, usually given by a doctor as an injection to numb an area for surgery or to ease pain through an epidural or nerve block. Part of how your body clears it relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2.

Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil may gently speed up that same enzyme. In theory, that could clear ropivacaine a little faster and make the numbing wear off sooner or feel weaker. I want to be honest though: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab data, not real patient reports, and ropivacaine is typically dosed and watched by an anesthesia team in real time. Still, let your doctor or pharmacist know you take adrafinil before any procedure.
