Metronidazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, drugs that inhibit CYP3A4 might increase the levels and clinical effects of adrafinil.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil is metabolized by CYP3A4.

Here's the gist: metronidazole (Flagyl) can slow down the same liver pathway, CYP3A4, that helps clear modafinil, the active drug your body makes from adrafinil. If that pathway is partly blocked, modafinil may build up a little and linger longer. In plain terms, the wakefulness effects of adrafinil could feel stronger or last longer than expected. That might show up as trouble sleeping, jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, headache, or anxiety.

I want to be honest that this concern is theoretical, based on how these drugs are processed rather than real-world reports, so it may not amount to much. Still, adrafinil is unregulated and hard on the liver, and metronidazole has its own side effects. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

Metronidazole treats three main types of infections. It's used for trichomoniasis (a sexually transmitted parasitic infection), amebiasis (an intestinal or liver infection caused by a parasite), and serious anaerobic bacterial infections — infections caused by bacteria that thrive without oxygen, which can affect the abdomen, skin, bones, lungs, and other areas.

Because sexual partners can pass trichomoniasis back and forth, both partners are typically treated at the same time, even if one has no symptoms.
