Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combo: adrafinil turns into modafinil in your liver, and modafinil is a wakefulness-promoting stimulant. Amphetamine (like Dyanavel XR or Mydayis) is already a strong stimulant on its own. So you'd essentially be stacking two stimulants on top of each other, and their effects can add up.

What that could look like in real life: a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, anxiety, headache, and trouble sleeping. To be fair, this concern is theoretical, based on how these drugs work rather than solid studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since adrafinil is unregulated and hard on the liver, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before pairing the two.

Amphetamine also falls under MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs).

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the risk for serious adverse effects.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil, and a related drug, armodafinil, have been associated with reports of serious adverse effects, such as hypertensive crisis and hyperthermia, when used in combination with MAOIs.

Here's the thing to know: your body turns adrafinil into modafinil, a wakefulness drug. Amphetamine is itself a stimulant that raises dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain. So you'd essentially be stacking two stimulating agents on top of each other. While the interaction on file is grouped under MAOIs, the practical worry with amphetamine is simpler, both push your nervous system in the same direction.

Combining them could mean a faster heart rate, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or overheating. This concern is largely theoretical and based on how these drugs work, not strong human studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, because adrafinil is unregulated and hard on the liver, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing the two.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
