Dexchlorpheniramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist of it. Your body clears dexchlorpheniramine partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, and modafinil can gently speed that enzyme up. In theory, that means your allergy medicine might get broken down a little faster, which could leave you with slightly weaker relief from the sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes you're treating.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It's based on how these drugs work on paper, not on real-world reports, and the effect is considered weak. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since adrafinil is unregulated and tough on the liver, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Chlorpheniramine is used to temporarily relieve common allergy symptoms caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or other upper respiratory allergies. These include runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

These uses are supported across multiple products — including tablets (such as Aller-chlor, Allergy, Allergy Relief, Allergy Time, Anti Allergy, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate), extended-release tablets (Allergy Relief and Chlorphen-12), the oral solution Ed Chlorped Jr, and the inhalers ClorRelief and ClorRelief KIDs.
