Here's the simple version: phenylpropanolamine is a stimulant-type decongestant and appetite suppressant that revs up your system. Adrafinil isn't a stimulant by itself, but your liver turns it into modafinil, which also has wakefulness-promoting, stimulant-like effects. So you'd basically be stacking two things that push in the same direction.

Putting them together could add up to more jitteriness, a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, trouble sleeping, headache, and anxiety. This concern is theoretical, based on how the two work rather than hard studies, so it may not happen to everyone. Still, since phenylpropanolamine already carries heart and blood-pressure risks, I'd play it safe and check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
