Triazolam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Adrafinil interacts with.

Theoretically, adrafanil might reduce levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Adrafinil is a precursor to the stimulant prescription drug modafinil. Modafinil has been shown to weakly induce CYP3A4 activity.

Here's the gist for Triazolam (Halcion). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this sleep medicine down. Once Adrafinil turns into modafinil in your body, that modafinil can gently speed up CYP3A4. In theory, that means your body could clear triazolam a little faster, so it may not work as well. You might notice it's harder to fall asleep or stay asleep, which is the very thing the medicine is meant to fix.

I'll be honest with you: this is based on how the drugs work on paper, not on strong studies, and modafinil is only a weak booster of that enzyme. Still, since they pull in opposite directions (one for sleep, one for wakefulness), please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Triazolam Used For?

Brand names: Halcion, Triazo, Apo-Triazo, Gen-Triazolam, Mylan-Triazolam, Novo-Triolam, Nu-Triazo

Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.

Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
