Why this applies to Amphetamine

Amphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group N,n-dmpea interacts with.

In vitro research shows that N,N-DMPEA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 might increase the risk for adverse effects from these drugs.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the thing about combining N,N-DMPEA with your amphetamine. Lab studies suggest this supplement can block CYP2D6, one of the liver enzymes that helps break amphetamine down. When that breakdown slows, more of the drug can linger in your body, which may push its stimulant effects higher. That could mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or loss of appetite.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is based only on test-tube work, not real people, and N,N-DMPEA itself is barely studied and acts as a stimulant on its own. Stacking two stimulants is the bigger worry here. Please run this combination by your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them.

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
