Why this applies to Aspirin, Oxycodone

Aspirin, Oxycodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group N,n-dmpea interacts with.

In vitro research shows that N,N-DMPEA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 might increase the risk for adverse effects from these drugs.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Percodan combines aspirin with oxycodone, and it's the oxycodone part that matters here. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert some oxycodone into oxymorphone, a more potent active form. N,N-DMPEA has been shown in lab tests to block CYP2D6 fairly strongly. In theory, blocking that enzyme could lower how much oxymorphone you make, which might slightly weaken pain relief for some people. The flip side is that oxycodone itself still works on its own, so the practical effect is hard to predict.

Honestly, this is based only on test-tube data, not real people, and N,N-DMPEA itself is poorly studied. I wouldn't panic, but since opioids carry real risks, please run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor first.
