Why this applies to Codeine Sulfate

Codeine Sulfate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group N,n-dmpea interacts with.

In vitro research shows that N,N-DMPEA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 might increase the risk for adverse effects from these drugs.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the key thing about codeine: it's actually a prodrug. Your body has to convert it into morphine using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 before you get meaningful pain relief. N,N-DMPEA appears to block that very enzyme, at least in lab testing. So instead of building codeine up, this combination would likely do the opposite, leaving you with less conversion to morphine and weaker pain control. You might notice your codeine just isn't working as well as expected.

I want to be honest that this is based only on test-tube research, not real people, so we can't say how strong it is in practice. Since N,N-DMPEA is a poorly studied stimulant ingredient anyway, please run this past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
