Why this applies to Fluoxetine

Fluoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group N,n-dmpea interacts with.

In vitro research shows that N,N-DMPEA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). Theoretically, concomitant use with drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 might increase the risk for adverse effects from these drugs.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the short version with Prozac (fluoxetine): your body partly relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break this antidepressant down. In lab testing, N,N-DMPEA appears to block that same enzyme strongly. If that holds true in people, fluoxetine could clear more slowly and build up, which may turn up its usual side effects like jitteriness, trouble sleeping, nausea, headache, or restlessness.

I'll be honest with you though, this is only test-tube data, not real human studies, so we can't say how big a deal it actually is. On top of that, N,N-DMPEA is a poorly studied stimulant ingredient I'd be cautious about anyway. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

Fluoxetine is approved to treat four conditions: major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa (a binge-eating and purging disorder), and panic disorder — with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that feel hard to escape).
