Theoretically, taking Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract with MAOIs might increase the risk of serotonergic adverse effects, such as serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders such as Call-Fleming syndrome.
Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract contains 5-HTP. Taking 5-HTP with MAOIs increases the risk of serotonergic adverse effects.

Here's the thing to know about pairing Griffonia (a natural source of 5-HTP) with amphetamine: both can nudge up serotonin activity in the brain. Amphetamine mainly boosts dopamine and norepinephrine, but it also raises serotonin somewhat, while 5-HTP feeds the body's serotonin supply directly. Stacking the two could, in theory, push serotonin too high.

If that happened, you might notice things like agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shakiness, or feeling overheated, which can be early signs of serotonin syndrome. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not on strong human studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since it's a real possibility, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
