Why this applies to Amphetamine

Amphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine (Tofranil) and amitriptyline (Elavil); antipsychotics such as haloperidol (Haldol), risperidone (Risperdal), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine); beta-blockers such as propranolol (Inderal), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), and carvedilol (Coreg); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); and others.

Here's the gist of it. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break down amphetamine. Lab studies hint that lentinan might rev up that enzyme a bit. If that happened in real life, your body could clear amphetamine a little faster, which in theory might make it feel like your ADHD medicine isn't working quite as well (less focus, more restlessness, or it wearing off sooner).

I want to be honest though: this is based only on test-tube and animal research, and it has never actually been seen in people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you decide to try lentinan, mention it to your pharmacist or prescriber, and keep an eye on whether your medication seems less effective.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
