Here's the gist: both rauwolscine and amphetamine are stimulants, and stacking two stimulants tends to push the body in the same direction. On top of that, amphetamine itself can slightly lower the seizure threshold (the point at which the brain is more prone to a seizure). The concern on file is that rauwolscine may nudge that threshold lower too, so using them together could, in theory, raise the chance of a seizure along with the usual amphetamine effects like a racing heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, and trouble sleeping.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it comes from animal lab work, not human studies, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Amphetamine is active on its own, not a prodrug, so nothing flips here. Still, since both are stimulants, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them, especially if you have any history of seizures, anxiety, or heart issues.

Here's the situation with these two. Your body partly clears amphetamine using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Rauwolscine, a cousin of yohimbine, may slow that enzyme down. If it does, amphetamine could hang around a bit longer and feel stronger than usual. Amphetamine isn't a prodrug here, so think more drug, not less.

What might that look like? A faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, and anxiety. Rauwolscine is a stimulant on its own, so stacking the two could amplify those feelings even more. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based mostly on lab data, not real patient reports. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the simple version: both rauwolscine and your amphetamine push your body in the same direction. Amphetamine already ramps up norepinephrine and dopamine to help with focus, and rauwolscine adds to that by blocking the brakes (alpha-2 receptors) that normally keep those stimulant signals in check. Stack them together and you may feel the stimulant effects piled higher than expected, things like a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, and more anxiety.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This concern comes mainly from animal and lab studies, so it's more theoretical than proven in people. Still, since both raise heart rate and blood pressure, I'd play it safe. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them, especially if you have any heart or anxiety concerns.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
