Here's the honest picture on combining rauwolscine with amoxicillin. The concern on file isn't about how your body processes the antibiotic. Instead, it's that both substances can, in theory, lower the threshold for seizures. Amoxicillin and other penicillins are known to slightly raise seizure risk, mostly at very high doses or in people with kidney problems. Rauwolscine, being a stimulant, may nudge in the same direction.

I want to be clear that this is very theoretical and comes only from an old animal study, not from people taking these two together. For a routine course of amoxicillin, the real-world risk is likely low. Still, if you have a history of seizures or use stimulant pre-workouts, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine) is a stimulant alkaloid closely related to yohimbine that is marketed mainly in fat-burning and pre-workout supplements. Human evidence for its benefits is very limited, and it can raise heart rate and blood pressure and cause anxiety, so it should be used with caution and is not recommended for people with heart conditions, anxiety, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

About Amoxicillin

What Is Amoxicillin Used For?

Brand names: Amoxil Capsules, Trimox, Wymox, Amix, Amoram, Amoxident, Galenamox, Rimoxallin, Amoxil Injection

Amoxicillin treats bacterial infections in both adults and children, including ear, nose, and throat infections; lower respiratory tract infections; skin and skin structure infections; and genitourinary tract infections.

In adults only, amoxicillin is also used — always combined with other medications — to eradicate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), the bacteria behind duodenal ulcers. Getting rid of H. pylori has been shown to reduce the chance of those ulcers coming back. It is only effective against bacteria that are susceptible to it and will not work against viral infections like the common cold or flu.
