Here's the gist with aripiprazole (Abilify): like many medicines that act on the brain, it can slightly lower your seizure threshold, meaning seizures become a touch more likely in people who are prone to them. Rauwolscine, the stimulant in some fat-burner and pre-workout products, may do the same thing. Stacking two things that nudge in that direction could, in theory, add up.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this concern comes from animal research with a different chemical, not from people taking these two together. So it's mostly theoretical. Still, rauwolscine can also crank up heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety, which isn't ideal alongside aripiprazole. Before combining them, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

Theoretically, rauwolscine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Rauwolscine is structurally related to yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist for Abilify (aripiprazole): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear this medicine from your body. Rauwolscine is a close cousin of yohimbine, and in lab dish studies yohimbine appears to slow down that same enzyme. If that holds true in real life, your aripiprazole could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, restlessness or a feeling of inner agitation (akathisia), dizziness, or mild tremor.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on test-tube data, not real-world cases, so it may not amount to much. Still, rauwolscine on its own can raise heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety, which isn't ideal alongside a psychiatric medicine. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

Aripiprazole treats several mental health conditions. It is approved for schizophrenia, acute manic and mixed episodes of Bipolar I Disorder, and as an add-on to antidepressants for Major Depressive Disorder.
