Here's the gist with these two. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break down nortriptyline and keep its levels steady. Rauwolscine is a close cousin of yohimbine, and lab studies suggest yohimbine can slow that same enzyme down. If that holds true for rauwolscine, your nortriptyline could clear more slowly and build up, which might mean stronger side effects like dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness on standing, or a faster heartbeat.

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on test-tube data, not real-world cases, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since rauwolscine itself raises heart rate and blood pressure and can stir up anxiety, mixing it with a tricyclic deserves a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before you start.
