Why this applies to Metoclopramide Hydrochloride

Metoclopramide Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine (Tofranil) and amitriptyline (Elavil); antipsychotics such as haloperidol (Haldol), risperidone (Risperdal), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine); beta-blockers such as propranolol (Inderal), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), and carvedilol (Coreg); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); and others.

Here's the gist for your metoclopramide (Gimoti). Your body partly clears this drug using a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Lab studies hint that lentinan might rev up that enzyme, which in theory could clear metoclopramide a little faster and make it less effective. If that happened, you might notice your stomach symptoms creeping back, things like nausea, early fullness, or heartburn that the medicine had been controlling.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It comes only from test-tube and animal research, and it has never been reported in real patients. So it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. Still, if you decide to try lentinan, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your medicine is working.

What Is Metoclopramide Nasal Spray Used For?

Brand name: Gimoti

Gimoti (metoclopramide nasal spray) is approved for adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis — a condition where diabetes damages the nerves controlling stomach emptying, causing nausea, vomiting, and bloating. It works to relieve those symptoms by helping the stomach empty more normally.

Gimoti is not recommended for children, or for adults with moderate to severe kidney or liver disease. It is also not recommended for adults taking strong CYP2D6 inhibitor medications (certain antidepressants and other drugs that slow how the body breaks down metoclopramide).
