Medroxyprogesterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the simple version: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down medroxyprogesterone. Lab research hints that lentinan might rev that enzyme up a bit. If it does, your body could clear the hormone a little faster, which in theory might make it work less well. With Provera or Depo-Provera, that could show up as breakthrough spotting, irregular bleeding, or just less reliable cycle control.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This signal comes only from test-tube and animal studies, and it has never actually been reported in people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you decide to use lentinan, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye out for any unexpected bleeding changes.

What Is Medroxyprogesterone Used For?

Brand names: Provera, Amen, Depo-Provera, Depo-subQ Provera 104

Medroxyprogesterone is used for different conditions depending on the product form. The injectable forms — including Depo-Provera and intramuscular medroxyprogesterone acetate injectable suspension — are used to prevent pregnancy. Depo-subQ Provera 104 (the subcutaneous injection) is also approved to manage pain associated with endometriosis.

The oral tablets — sold under the brand Provera and as generic medroxyprogesterone acetate tablets — treat secondary amenorrhea (periods that have stopped) and abnormal uterine bleeding caused by hormonal imbalance. The tablets are also used to prevent endometrial hyperplasia (abnormal thickening of the uterine lining) in postmenopausal women with a uterus who are taking daily conjugated estrogens.
